Investing in Our Communities And Environment
The state treasurer oversees the $42 billion public school teacher and state worker pension fund. As your next treasurer, I will invest in projects that will assure the required return to pension holders, preserve the quality of life in Massachusetts and create thousands of new jobs. We can solve our housing crisis by turning abandoned properties into quality housing. We can build our economy by providing capital to start small businesses. We can save our environment by investing in energy conservation, renewable energy, creating good local jobs and keeping us out of imperialist wars over oil.
Being An Independent Watchdog For You
As the Green-Rainbow Party nominee, I am not beholden to entrenched political party interests and will be a watchdog over our government. I cannot be bought by special interests. I will fight corporate welfare and make the treasurer's office accountable only to the people of Massachusetts.
Getting Corporations To Clean Up Their Act
The days of corporate abuses, such as Enron, will be over if I am elected. I will work with responsible mutual funds and other state pension funds to use the power of our combined shares to get corporations to clean up their act. We can rein in excessive CEO salaries and perks. We can make corporations truly accountable to employees and shareholders. We can get corporations to pay workers a living wage and stop polluting our communities.
