This is the start of a periodic email newsletter the campaign will be sending out. The point is to keep you informed about the campaign, without overloading your mailbox and time. Should your friends wish to subscribe or you wish to unsubscribe, go to:

1. What's Up

The campaign account is setup and we filed the required forms to say we are running a clean elections campaign. The web site (jamesokeefe.org) has contributor information and the campaign's issues on it if you want to forward it to folks. Yesterday, the Mystic River Greens, my own local in Cambridge and Somerville, endorsed my candidacy for state treasurer. You can reach the campaign by email at okeefecampaign at netscape.net or by snail mail at:

  James O'Keefe Election Committee
  PO Box 441031
  Somerville, MA 02144

2. Mailing party - this Saturday, August 18th, 3-5 pm

There will be a party at my house at 25 Moore St., Somerville to assemble and mail out contributor information to the 120+ people who have offered to contribute. If you are in the Boston area and can make it, please drop by. We will have refreshments. Please RSVP.

3. In the News

Al Lupo interviewed me for the Boston Sunday Globe. The article should be out in the next few weeks. Here is a summary of the articles that mentioned the campaign so far:

o Diversity deemed party's strength
     Worcester Telegram & Gazette, June 4, 2001
o Green Party to field at least one candidate this year
     Associated Press, June 5, 2001
o Run on the Bank, Boston Phoenix, June 7 - 14, 2001
o Hello there ..., Boston Metro, June 11, 2001
o Green candidate seeks to manage our greenbacks
     Somerville Journal, July 11, 2001
o With Clean Elections, Associated Press, August 1, 2001
o Political Capital, Boston Sunday Globe, August 5, 2001

Links to some of the articles are at jamesokeefe.org.

That's it for now. See ya later!
