Hi,
Yesterday the Senate President Tom Birmingham and House Speaker
Tom Finneran announced that they had "reached agreement on the
important issues in this year's budget." We have to make sure
that agreement includes fully funding the Clean Elections Law.
Please take a minute right now to call Senate President Tom
Birmingham about full funding for Clean Elections. The
negotiations on funding the people's law will continue this
weekend, despite the release of a budget "outline" yesterday.
We're asking you to call Birmingham at BOTH his Boston office
and his campaign office, to send the message that this issue
will play a major role in the 2002 elections.
State House office: (617) 422-1500
Campaign headquarters: (617) 725-1891
Tell the person who answers "I support full funding for Clean
Elections, and Senate President Birmingham should, too."
Birmingham needs to held accountable to the voters on his
promise to support Clean Elections.
We are also asking to send an e-mail to both of the following
addresses:
tbirming at senate.state.ma.us
tom at tombirmingham.org
Here's a sample letter:
Dear Senate President Birmingham,
Please ensure that this year's budget fully funds the Clean
Elections law. Sixty-seven percent of voters approved this
law, and they can not be ignored. I am counting on you to
stand up to Speaker Finneran and secure the funding that
this law needs to work. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Your Name
Your Address
Please take a few minutes to get these messages to the Senate
President TODAY. There is still time to make a difference -- we
are counting on you to put the pressure on. Please ask your family,
friends and co-workers to call as well!
Thanks!

Green Party Candidate for Massachusetts State Treasurer
