JAMES OKEEFE FOR STATE TREASURER E-MAIL UPDATE
***HIGHEST PRIORITYPLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE E-MAIL**
WE HAVE LESS THAN THREE WEEKS TO QUALIFY FOR CLEAN ELECTIONS!
Dear friends and supporters,
I am writing you with wonderful news--my campaign for State Treasurer is
certain to be certified by the Secretary of State as the first Green Party
statewide campaign to make the ballot this year!
As of Wednesday, May 08, at 5 p.m., I have 8,624 validated nomination
signatures. This is well over the 5,000 that I need to make the ballot, and is
enough to withstand any challenge that might come from my opponents. Jill Stein
has 11,054, well over the 10,000 that she needs, and Anthony Lorenzen has
9,289. These numbers are still climbingstay tuned for further updates!
This has been an historic effort. It has invigorated Greens and other
progressives and brought thousands of new voters into the democratic process.
But the real work has just begun. In order to run winning campaigns, Jill Stein
and I must both qualify for Clean Elections funds. Both of us need 1,500 more
$5 contributions. The catch: we have less than three weeks to raise these
contributions.
We need your help!
First, if you have not yet made a Clean Elections contribution of just $5 to
BOTH the OKeefe and Stein campaigns, please do so right now. Reply to this e-
mail with your mailing address, and well send you a Clean Elections
contribution card immediately.
Second, in order to build the Massachusetts Green Party locals, the OKeefe and
Stein campaigns are launching an unprecedented grassroots fundraising
initiative. For every dollar in qualifying contributions that individuals or
groups can raise, the OKeefe and Stein campaigns will donate $0.50 to their
Green local or to the state party.
In order to be a part of this historic initiate, you simply need to ask friends
or family for contributions, or join a local door-to-door or street fundraising
effort, and mail them back to the campaigns with a post-it note attached,
indicating the Green local that youd like our donation to go to. To find out
about local door-to-door or street fundraising efforts, just call our office at
617-628-2922.
Under this initiative, if the Jamaica Plain Greens raise $2,000 total--$1,000
for each candidate--the OKeefe and Stein campaigns will donate a total of
$1,000 to the JP Greens. Locals can use this money to do build their group--
including reserving tables at local events, buying tee-shirts or other
materials to kick-start a larger fundraising effort, or purchasing a party
office or meeting space. The possibilities are endless!
Raising qualifying contributions is simple--they can come from any registered
Massachusetts voter, and they only need to be $5! We are asking everyone for
$10--$5 for James OKeefe and $5 for Jill Stein. Because the campaigns are not
allowed to share money, it is urgent that both qualify for Clean Elections.
Its so easy and so very important.
No Green statewide campaigns have ever launched a decentralized fundraising
effort this large, which so directly benefits local Green groups. Please
consider getting involved today--we have less than three weeks!
If you want to get involved with this effort, and need some Clean Elections
cards, please call our office immediately at 617-628-2922.
Thank you so much for all your help during the signature drive, and thank you
in advance for making a Clean Elections contribution and for joining our
fundraising initiative and helping qualify Jill Stein and I for Clean Elections
funds.
Green and growing,
James OKeefe
P.S. We also have some full-time and part-time fundraising jobs available.
Please call Brian at 617-628-7513 for more information.
