1. JAMES O'KEEFE AT 8% IN POLL!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

We should feel proud of ourselves and of James! In a 7-NEWS/Suffolk University
poll released yesterday, Jamie stood at 8% of the vote! Jamie proclaimed, "8%
is just a start for us. I know that as more voters hear my message we will
win."

We should attribute his high standing to a few different factors:

·	James’ inclusion in the debates. There have been two debates for State
Treasurer candidates since the Sept. 17 primary, and Jamie participated in both
of them. Voters have had an opportunity to hear about his platform.
·	James’ platform. Jamie is the only candidate for State Treasurer
talking about investing in peace, socially responsible investments, and
communities, and working to get corporations to clean up their act. Jamie said
today, “my message of social and environmental responsibility is really
resonating with voters as they watch with anger the drum-beating for war going
on in Washington and the dire state of our economy.”
·	The hard work of volunteers all across the state who are spreading the
Green Party message in various ways--holding stand-outs advertising our Green
Party candidates and house parties, wearing your O’Keefe button or driving
around with your O’Keefe bumper-sticker, telling everyone you know that you’re
voting for James O’Keefe for Treasurer and why!

For more information on how you can help the campaign, please see items 2,5 and
6 below!!

2. STEP UP VISIBILITY
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As the last few weeks before the general elections wind down, it is crucial now
more than ever to get out the word about Green party candidates through out
Massachusetts. A suggestion on how to create some visibility is to schedule
some stand-outs in your community. Get a group of people together to hold
signs and hand out flyers at busy times and at busy intersections, or at your
community peace rally or arts festival. Doing this for even just an hour or
two will give the candidates lots of exposure have a huge impact!

The O’Keefe campaign will have yard signs available next week, but in the
meantime, make your own!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
3. MIT FORUM THIS THURSDAY
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The MIT Greens are putting on a Green State-wide Candidate Forum this
Thursday, October 10th, at 7pm. Jill Stein and James O'Keefe will speak and
answer questions. It will be located at MIT Room 1-190. To find out how to
get there, go to whereis.mit.edu or e-mail David Strozzi at greens at mit.edu. We
encourage everyone to attend. There will be free snacks!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
4. EVENTS ON OCTOBER 16TH
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On Wednesday, October 16th, the MCTA (Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers
Association) is having its Fall Conference at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, 500
Easthampton Rd. Jamie, along with the two other State Treasurer candidates
will be speaking from 1pm to 3pm.

At 4:30 pm, Jamie will participate in his third debate on channel 2 (WGBH) in
Boston on the Emily Rooney show. We’ll let you know more details later about
how to tune in.

Later that evening, at 7 pm, Jamie will join other candidates for various state-
wide and local offices for a forum at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist
Church in Bridgewater, hosted by the church’s social justice committee

5. AN APPEAL
----------------------------------------------------------------------

With Jamie polling at 8%, we have a real opportunity to make a major splash and
possibly win on November 5! In order to do this, we need your help getting the
word out. If you’d really like to make a difference in Massachusetts politics,
donate to the James O’Keefe for State Treasurer campaign. We really depend on
your volunteer and financial support. If you’re not able to volunteer a couple
hours a week, how about sending along some money to the campaign! Right now
we’re printing yard signs and we’re looking for some help covering these costs
and those of another run of brochures. You can send a campaign contribution to
James O’Keefe for State Treasurer
P.O. Box 441031
Somerville, MA 02144

Checks can be made out to “James O’Keefe Election Committee.”

OR, you can make an on-line contribution at
https://www.campaigncontribution.com/contribution.asp?id=2128&jid=

Another opportunity to help the campaign raise money and volunteers is to hold
a house party. You can invite people who you think might be receptive to the
campaign, and Jamie will give a presentation about his campaign and the various
ways that people can help build the Green Party. If you want to do this,
please call Vanessa soon at 617-628-2922--time is running out to plan these
parties!
